ARTIST STATEMENT

Sculptural photography is my ongoing passion. My work explores the female body and what it holds beneath and within its visible surface, not only as an image, but through the physical and emotional processes that shape the work.

I am interested in how emotions bend towards one another, overlap, resist, and transform, and in the different ways we approach and experience these shifts. The body becomes both subject and material: something that can be observed, shaped, concealed, revealed, and reinterpreted.
Making the process more important than aiming towards a 'final work'.

Power is an important part of this process. As the photographer, I initially hold a certain degree of control over the image, while the model occupies the position of being seen. But this relationship begins to shift when I introduce materials and allow the process itself to become less predictable. As I lose control over the material, I also surrender some control over the image.
This loss of control is not something I want to resolve. Instead, I see it as a way of acknowledging that power is always present within the act of making and looking. By recognising it, rather than denying it, the process can become more fluid, moving between photographer, model, body, material, and image.
My work seeks to create a space where control and surrender can coexist, allowing the image to emerge through a shared and continually shifting process.
